FPS Approved Stallions

|
In our registry, Friesian
stallions must be approved to breed by the FPS |
|
(the original studbook
of the Netherlands). Approximately 1% of the FPS Friesian |
|
stallions presented will make
the title "Approved". The stallions selected for further review |
|
have exhibited the very
best in conformation, movement and has a desirable pedigree. Testing |
|
is very strict and
stallions must pass x-rays, semen quality and a 70 day performance test, at
the |
|
end, only a select few
are approved. After a stallion is approved he's allowed to breed until
enough of his |
|
offspring
(approximately 4 years) can be reviewed. This process takes longer for
stallions in the USA as there |
|
are a much
smaller number of mares to breed. At the end of this process a stallion is
either permanently approved |
|
on offspring or
rejected and taken out of breeding. Listed below are most of the stallions
approved to breed in the USA |
